SPORTEC & TOYO's New World Record

March 10th 2005 saw the making of a new world speed record, through an exciting collaboration between SPORTEC and TOYO TIRES. The proud title of "Fastest SUV in the World" was awarded to the Cayenne Turbo SP600M, manned by SPORTEC's driver, Andreas Hodel.

Reaching an unprecedented speed of 308.435 km/h, the team defeated the previous record of 282 km/h, formerly held by KLEEMANN's Mercedes ML55K in 2003.

SPORTEC optimally tuned a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, creating the pure blend of maximum performance and state-of-the-art technological innovation needed to break the existing track record. Founded in 1997, the Swiss company specialises in developing high-end total vehicle programmes, transforming production models into exclusive SPORTEC cars throughout the world.

For the second time in a successful world record attempt, TOYO TIRES' Proxes ST Tires were implemented to enhance the car's overall performance and handling. The Proxes ST range was specifically selected for its ability to deliver a powerful combination of superb handling, confident performance and smooth, assured stability.

SPORTEC and TOYO gave their design the acid test at the high-speed oval course at the ATP, Automotive Testing Papenburg, North Germany. Widely considered one of the most modern independent automotive proving grounds, the course exposed the power, speed and accuracy demonstrated by SPORTEC, TOYO TIRES and the Cayenne Turbo SP600M.
