TOYO TIRES enter 12H Hungary 2010

Osaka, Japan - 5 October, 2010 - Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Kenji Nakakura) announce that their race tire development team have entered the 12H Hungary 2010 on October, 9th at Hungaroring.

Lammertink Racing, TOYO TIRES exclusive circuit race tire development partner since 2009, will be using their Porsche 997 GT3 car to contest the 997 Cup class in Hungary. The race will mark the final outing for the team before the tire development work goes behind closed doors over the winter.

TOYO TIRES are developing Proxes RS1 (Dry) and Proxes RR1 (Wet) race tires and the sizes to be used in this race will be;
Front: 245/640R18
Rear: 285/680R18

 

12H Hungary 2010 is as its name suggests, a twelve hour endurance race held on the Grand Prix circuit close to the Hungarian capital of Budapest. TOYO TIRES will take the opportunity to test the latest evolution of its race tire under race conditions. 30 teams from 20 countries have entered this third edition of the race.

[ Driver profiles ]
Mr. Tom CoronelMr. Tom Coronel
Lead driver, Tom Coronel is an experienced development driver and racer. Career highlights include winning the Japanese Formula 3 and Formula Nippon championships. He has also raced successfully in Super GT and currently competes in both the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and Le Mans 1000km Series.

Mr. Takayuki KinoshitaMr. Takayuki Kinoshita
Takayuki Kinoshita is an experienced racer in Super GT and Super Endurance. He has also raced the Nurburgring 24h and holds the record as the fastest Japanese driver. A popular and influential motoring journalist, Kinoshita is one of the Judges of the prestigious Car of the Year award.

Mr. Yasushi KikuchiMr. Yasushi Kikuchi
Yasushi Kikuchi has extensive experience in Super GT and the Super Taikyu (endurance) series in Japan. In 2010, he will continue to participate in both Super GT and Super Taikyu. A regular competitor in the Nurburgring 24 Hours, Yasushi is also an accomplished technical journalist.
