Toyo Honored as “Automotive Supplier of the Year” by the Georgia Department of Economic Development

Osaka, Japan – December 13, 2016 – Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd. (Takashi Shimizu, President) is proud to announce that Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. (“TNA”; Donald C. The Georgia Automotive Awards were created by the Georgia Department of Economic Development as a means of recognizing individuals and corporations across the state that have contributed significantly to its economic development and the continued growth of the automotive industry. Awards are given in five categories: Company of the Year, Leader of the Year, Innovation Award, Automotive Supplier of the Year, and Community Impact.

Of the awards that were presented for the first time, TNA received the Automotive Supplier of the Year because the company was deemed: “A supplier to an automotive OEM, at any tier, that demonstrates strong growth and projections, which positively impact the overall economic health of the state of Georgia.”

TNA began operations in December 2005 as the company group’s North American regional tire-manufacturing base. Since then, it has continued to create value that exceeds customer expectations utilizing Toyo’s highly automated and proprietary tire production system called Advanced Tire Operation Module (A.T.O.M.), which enables TNA to supply the North American aftermarket with high-quality tires, as well as have them adopted as original equipment tires for new cars of automobile makers.

Furthermore, since starting operations, TNA has worked hard to increase tire manufacturing capacity to a degree that meets the vigorous demands of the North American market and, by achieving a supply system capable of producing 11.5M tires (converted into passenger vehicle tires) annually by the end of the year, TNA will become the largest tire manufacturing plant in the Group. At the same time, the number of employees has increased approximately 15-fold since its establishment in 2004 and thus, in terms of employment, TNA’s efforts have been highly regarded as contributing to the local community.
