Toyo Tire Announces Membership in GDSO Driving Initiatives to Advance Standardization and Sharing of Tire Data

Hyogo, Japan—November 28, 2025—Toyo Tire Corporation (Headquarters: Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture; President & CEO: Takashi Shimizu; hereinafter, “Toyo Tire”) announced today that it has joined the Global Data Service Organisation for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO), an international non-profit association promoting standardization and access to data related to tires and automotive components. As a proud member of GDSO, Toyo Tire will advance its initiatives to promote industry standards for data related to tires to establish individual tire identification and traceability.

Toyo Tire has been involved in the development of a data platform that GDSO promotes, utilizing radio frequency identification (RFID*1) technology. By building a database of tires manufactured and distributed by the Toyo Tire Group, we will help enhance efficiency and reliability of information management across the industry.
*1 A wireless communication technology that uses radio waves to read and write data stored on tags

RFID uses wireless communication to enable non-contact individual identification. When applied to quality assurance and inventory control, it is expected to enhance work efficiency and safety. Leveraging this technology, Toyo Tire will utilize the data thus accumulated to deliver high-value-added services within the framework of our solution business initiatives, including retread*2 and maintenance while strengthening tire information management throughout the entire product life cycle.
*2 A process that reuses worn-out tires by retaining their casings and applying new rubber to the tread that contacts the road

Positioning the reduction of environmental impact as one of its material issues, the Toyo Tire Group is advancing the development of sustainable tires. We remain committed to enhancing added value and corporate value by proactively using RFID and other digital technologies.
