Engagement with Local Communities

We understand that our business activities have a direct impact on local economies, environments, and societies, and earnestly listen to the evaluations and expectations of society. And we emphasize communication with local communities at all our business sites, which includes various activities, such as actively providing information and creating opportunities for dialogue.
We also strive to properly understand the needs of stakeholders obtained through communication with them and reflect that in our business.
As an opportunity for direct meetings with stakeholders in surrounding areas, Toyo Tire Corporation moved its headquarters to Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture in May 2017. We held meetings with various parties, including representatives of local residents, government officials, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the area around where the headquarters was moved and exchanged opinions regarding various issues, including expectations held of the company and the orientation of collaboration to generate sustainable development for the local community.

At production facilities, we also hold “FUREAI” events and provide tours of the plant in order to deepen understanding of our business activities among people in surrounding areas.
For example, at the Sendai Plant, we express our gratitude to members of the local community by holding the “FUREAI Community Fair” each year on the grounds of the plant. Plant tours are also popular and [this year], record 260 visitors participated in the tour, and we thus used manufacturing to deepen our bond with the community.
